Release Of Journalist Dawit Isaac

The Eritrean Government Released from prison the Eritrean journalist Mr. Dawit Isaac who also hold Swedish nationality. Mr. Isaac was Detained in Sep.2001 during the campaign the government launched against the press and detained ten journalists. Mr. Isaac’s release was known when he made a telephone call on 19 Nov.2005 from Asmara to his wife who live in Sweden .

SUWERA CENTRE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS welcomes the release of Mr. Isaac whose name was listed in the centre's annual report for year 2005. The centre also send his congratulations to Mr. Isaac’s wife and children, his family and friends for his release and demand that the Eritrean government should immediately release the 14 journalists who are still in detention and secure freedom of word in Eritrea.
