Suwera centre organize a seminar about human rights state in Eritrea
In 19/12/2005 and at the national centre for peace and development, Suwera center for human rights held a seminar to discuss: The State of Human rights in Eritrea.
A number of Eritrean and Sudanese people concerned with human rights issue participated in the discussion. The seminar addressed four topics.
In the first session the chairman of the centre reviewed the annual report on the state of human rights in Eritrean for the year 2005, the session was headed by Mr. Hassan Ali Asad, .The participants discussed the contents of the report in details and made important observation about some technical part of the report.
The second session was headed by Lawyer, Mahmoud Shazali, who introduced Mr. Lisan Aldeen Alkhateeb to tell his experience during his detention in Eritrea and to Mr. Alamin Fadlalah brother of Salah Fadlalah Alhalawi who is detained in Eritrean prison, Mr. Alamin demanded that organization of human rights and to the Sudanese government should pay more attention to the situation of the Sudanese in the Eritrean prisons. Also Mr. Amir Alsir father’s appealed to the audience to help him to know the fate of his son who disappeared in Eritrea since 1996.
In the third session, Lawyer Sati Alhag, deputy head of Sudanese group for human rights, who gave the audience general idea about principle of human rights and about the international and regional mechanism that protect those rights. The session was headed by Mr. Yaseen Mohamed Abdallah.
The fourth and last session was headed by, Lawyer and active member in the field of human rights, Samia Rabbah who announced the recommendations of the workshop, the chance was given to the audience for further recommendation or observations. The Suwera centre shall soon make these recommendations available for all those interested.
