Recommendations of the Seminar Organized by Suwera Centre about Human Rights State in Eritrea

The following are the recommendations of the seminar organized In 19/12/2005 at the national centre for peace and development, by Suwera center  for human rights about The State of Human rights in Eritrea:

A/ Concerning the report prepared by Suwera Centre about the state of human rights in Eritrea.

1/ It is essential that the centre should include in his next report the names of all those arbitrarily detained.

2/It is necessary that the centre’s next report should include section about the response of the international community towards the situation oh human rights in Eritrea.

3/The necessity of wide distribution of the 2005 report about the state of human rights in Eritrea.

B/ Concerning the plans for defending human rights in Eritrea, the seminar adopted the following recommendations :

4/To use the international occasions such as the international day for human rights, the international day for women to draw the attention of the international community to the violations of human rights in Eritrea.

5/To use demonstrations, posters, and signs to focus on the violations of human rights in Eritrea.

6/The effective use of the international technology i.e. internet to improve the methods of defense of human rights in Eritrea.

7/Use of audio, video, and written media to disclose the violations of human rights in Eritrea.

8/ Use of sms in special occasions related to human rights.

9/The necessity of presenting parallel reports to the concerned international and regional committees.

10/ Coordination with similar organizations and the Eritreans communities to expose the violations of human rights in Eritrea.

C/ Concerning publicizing human rights culture the seminar recommended that the centre should :

11/ Organize courses about human rights culture.

12/ To make available the international documents about human rights to the people concerned.

13/ Encourage researches and studies in the field of human rights.

14/Cooprate with the international, regional, and local organizations to promote the capabilities of those defending human rights.

15/ Organize workshops and seminars to discuss and promote plans to confront human rights violations in Eritrea.

16/Enlighten those who were subjected to violations to declare what happened to them.

17/Organize seminars about Eritrean refugees and about Eritrean women and children situations.

18/ Establish legal department within Suwera Centre to provide legal support to Eritrean refugees and to those who seek asylum.
